Non-natural components in our food (and other products)

In my speech therapy practice, we have trialed several diet changes for some of our clients. In just days, we saw a marked difference in children after removing red dye from their diets. Two children in particular were more calm, focused, and had improved impulse control. I have noticed a change in my own mood and brain function when I consume non-natural monosodium glutamate (MSG). What non-natural components are added to our food, cleaning products, beauty products, etc. that are affecting our mood, attention, energy, etc.?

Hi Shelby, Some synthetic food colorings (including some red dyes) are known to be problematic, particularly with children. There are some non nutritive food sweeteners such as aspartame that despite being approved by the FDA are strongly suspected to have adverse effects on appetite and may even be linked to some neurological diseases.
