Virtual Reality and the future of L&D

Hi KC, This is a very broad question that will have different answers depending on which section specifically you are referencing. One example I can think of off the top of my head is the use of VR as a training app for engineers working in the wind energy sector. It goes over on the job safety, use of tools, part identification and simulation of assembly.
In general you see a lot of VR being used to teach safety and best practices to trainees. As VR technology evolves I expect to see a lot more employees using VR daily to simulate methods and explore new systems either too dangerous or expensive to in physical reality.
Virtual reality is a used actively when the use of it is also part of the job. Often in engineering, but also think of training / preparing to fix a nuclear plant or other hazardous place in a crisis situation. This will grow as the technology becomes cheaper and more powerful.
More interestingly, coupled with IA I think it could also be used for behavioral training to immerse a participant completely in a virtual role play.
