Are traditional packaging compliance/adherance features adequate to insure the optimal outcome for individual patients or patient populations?

If by "traditional packaging" you mean a bottle with a label stating # pills X # times to take per day, obviously not. I think even low tech dose packs are helpful, where the blister pack shows #to take per day and # of days as lines are extremely helpful as it is immediately obvious what has and hasn't been taken. Other packs with count tracking may also help. For sub cu dosing, there are wearables that autoadminister. Ultimately, autoadminister and autotitrate would optimizer patient compliance.

Although the term "personalized medicine" is often mentioned as the intended outcome, what exactly will have to be done is still wide open. If the only "personalization" involved is to determine the dose and frequency then packaging might be important to ensure compliance, however, I do not expect it to be the case. Since personalization is more likely to ensure that an accurate diagnosis is in place and a relevant drug as determined by its mechanism of action is prescribed, concerns about packaging and developing new regulations can wait.
