Probiotics and Immune System Strength
Is anyone aware of research being done on inflammation markers and controlled diets with the variables of processed foods like sugars and probiotics that could also monitor if this affects the prevalence of catching a cold or the flu?
1 answer
The benefits of probiotics in controlling inflammation is well studied. In conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, probiotics ameliorated the inflammatory cytokines, thus bringing down the inflammation. In a recent study published by Turner et al., in 2017, the subjects treated with probiotics resulted in significant reduction of rhinovirus (virus responsible for common cold) infection. Reports are available which show that probiotic diet has good effects in curbing inflammation in other conditions like arthritis, influenza, UTI etc.
