Objective

What is the primary objective for this merger? Is it tied to benefits, insurance or improving systems or end to end changes. Healthcare is complex and tying the pieces together will depend on the what the objectives / end result / expectations are. Healthcare requires a lot of focus as we need to consider the regulatory changes that are ongoing in the industry. The objectives need to be very specific as that will help drive the roadmaps to deliver successfully.

The government has not been effective in writing legislation to help reduce costs (other than Medicare Bundled Payment programs). Employers see increases in employee healthcare costs going up every year. This partnership is a very visible attempt to see if employers can innovate to bring down the cost of healthcare. Time will tell.......You can also see my responses from yesterday.

To add to what Tony already mentioned, this partnership is intended to disrupt the intricacies of the healthcare system that contribute to the rising costs of treatment and in which doctors, hospitals, insurers and pharmaceutical companies interact.
