I have >9 years research experience studying and investigating disease mechanisms and potential target therapies, providing me in-depth understanding of pathways within neurodegenerative, metabolic, genetic/epigenetic, oncogenic disease progression and therapeutic mechanism of action. In order to gain a more well-rounded perspective in public health and science, I have studied and trained in multiple interdisciplinary settings including academia (Johns Hopkins where I earned my PhD, Harvard, Emory), government (CDC), and clinical (Emory, Florida Hospital).
Currently, through the Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholar Research Training Program (GCSRT), I am acquiring comprehensive knowledge of the processes required to develop and deliver safe and effective drug therapies. Collaborations and team work with clinicians, researchers, and health care providers from around the world and intensive instruction by Harvard faculty members provide me the ability to lead the ethical design, conduct, regulation, and statistical analysis (STATA) of drug development and clinical trials. Furthermore, team work with thought leaders, researchers, and health care providers from multidisciplinary backgrounds throughout my work have proved invaluable and contributed to the following:
►Discovery-my scientific discoveries and research have contributed to >$1,830,000 lab funding and an investigator-initiated clinical internship grant.
►Scientific Communication-I have co-authored 2 high impact peer-reviewed journal publications and 1 independent thesis publication and have been invited as expert speaker/presenter to >15 scientific engagements including the Gordan Conference in Oxidative Stress/Disease where I was awarded the Carl Storm Fellowship. I have further assisted in development of several clinical study proposals and a drug (biologic) development proposal which I presented to >130 physicians and researchers worldwide. In addition, I have had the pleasure to teach young high school students advanced science classes and labs.
►Customer Service-When our family business expanded, I put my science career 'on hold' in order to help expand the business, leading to market expansion generating ~$900,000/yr. in gross revenue-Highest sales/ft2 and 4 customer service award.
►I am passionate to leverage my scientific and product promotion experience to work on the forefront of improving human health & ensure safe/effective therapies reach those in need.
