Experienced research manager with a demonstrated history of working in the biomedical & higher education industry. Trained in research design & methodology, laboratory management, & curriculum design. Current research emphasis seeks to develop novel therapeutic strategies to treat inherited forms of blindness such as retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Our group seeks to further our understanding of the underlying genetic, metabolic, & neural mechanisms of RP. We employ vitreoretinal surgical techniques to treat diseased retinas with retinal progenitor cells, induced pluripotent stem cells , CRISPR/Cas9 viral vectors, & various liposomes in order to delay, prevent, or restore loss of vision. In addition to the aforementioned test articles, we explore implantation and long-term maintenance of retinal prostheses.
