NILSA GUERRERO-MAHON, CPA & CFE Nilsa Guerrero-Mahon is a senior executive, financial expert, and strategist with broad expertise leading domestic and international corporate finance and accounting organizations. She has served as a CFO and Controller for global corporations in the technology, energy, and government sectors. She has also served on Boards of Directors for large organizations in the healthcare industry. Mrs. Guerrero-Mahon is qualified as an “Audit Committee Financial Expert” for SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) purposes. She has an extensive background working directly with Audit Committees and Risk Management Committees.
She is a decisive business leader and experienced working for global and publicly traded companies delivering product and services management. Mrs. Guerrero-Mahon, who is bilingual (Spanish and English), has driven compliance programs throughout large organizations with operations in multiple global jurisdictions including Latin America, Europe, and Asia. In these roles, she has also developed and led high performance teams while improving operational execution.
Mrs. Guerrero-Mahon contributes her business and financial expertise as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Centura Health Mountains & North Denver Operating Group, the largest division ($1.5B) in the Centura Health Care System. Earlier she served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and Chaired the Strategy Committee at St. Anthony Hospital, now a member of the Centura Health Mountains & North Denver Operating Group. She is a gubernatorial appointed Board Member of the State of Colorado Financial Services Commission a Division of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Mrs. Guerrero-Mahon currently manages her own consulting firm providing services in the areas of ethics, compliance, corporate governance, policies and procedures, internal controls, internal audit, fraud prevention and detection, corporate accounting, and finance to both domestic and international corporations as well as non-profit organizations. She serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver and has provided forensic accounting services for the United States Department of Justice.
Previously, Mrs. Guerrero-Mahon was the Financial Controller and the Controls and Compliance Manager for Microsoft Global Services with up to $2.4B in P&L management responsibility. While working for Microsoft she established the Ethics & Compliance Council comprised of senior management including Legal and HR representatives, developed the compliance framework, and managed the implementation of ethics and compliance initiatives in multiple worldwide locations. She also managed the CFO certification process and Audit Committee’s disclosures.
In prior positions she served as a CFO for Storage Test Solutions, Inc., a Senior Manager for Arthur Andersen serving as an interim CFO and Controller for various corporations, and for Resources Global Professionals as the SOX Team Leader for Tyco International’s Health Care, Environmental, and Industrial Divisions in Mexico and the United States.
She is also involved in numerous professional organizations and serves as the Co-Chair of the Puerto Rico Chapter of the Women Corporate Directors Foundation. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Association of Latinos Professionals in Finance & Accounting, and the Microsoft and Arthur Andersen Alumni organizations.
Mrs. Guerrero-Mahon received an Executive MBA from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver and a BS in Business Administration - Accounting from the Interamerican University in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
