Digital currencies

Several topics about digital currencies recently pop up. Indeed Bitcoin is the most popular one, but other alternatives are already in place. E.g. Ethereum, IOTA, Litecoin, Zcash, Dash, Ripple, Monero. What is your experience on these? Do you maybe know other ones and which could be the future for the digital currencies?

I have personally invested in ETH purely due to the technology that the the Ethereum blockchain can offer and LTC due to the fact is being a "faster" version of BTC meaning it should always scale alongside BTC (which ironically it hasn't over the passed day since I wrote this, it scaled with ETH).
With regards to the future I wouldn't know what to suggest, my opinion is whichever crypto's disrupt a market should stay providing the community and the dev's behind it believe in the technology and aren't just in it to make a buck.
Ifreal world value from the application being built on the chain is generated the currency should in theory have some as well.

Bitcoin Cash should be another on your list. It fulfills the original promise of Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer e-payment system - e.g. super fast, low fees, reliable, secure, and the like. It will also be available on popular bitcoin wallets, like Coinbase, come Jan (https://blog.coinbase.com/update-on-bitcoin-cash-8a67a7e8dbdf).

Hope this helps.

So far digital currencies come off as a hoax, a hype. But an interesting one with potential.

Agree - PayPal has started that road, although it still depends on formal currencies. Once a similar exchange for cryptocurrencies becomes equally mainstream we'll be getting places. - Bart 62 months ago

Successful commercial digital currency systems serve different groups of users. Popular systems are used by people in areas of the world lacking in traditional bank products and services. In countries or regions of the world with large non-bank populations, digital currency offers critical services and benefits for local users. Recent changes in US regulations including the MSB Rule and the Prepaid Access Rule have had a negative effect on all US digital currency business. These restrictions apply to both US-based firms, foreign-based companies, and foreign persons engaged in US business. Significant US regulations under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) have blocked digital currency systems and products from the American market.

Bloombergreported in December that Facebook has been developing a so-called stablecoin—a digital currency whose value is pegged to a traditional currency, often the US dollar. The Times report seems to confirm this; five people familiar with the project said thefirst product was likely to be a stablecoin. Apparently, Facebook could guarantee the currency’s value by backing it with dollars, euros, - Dr. David E. 62 months ago

Digital currency is a payment method which exists only in electronic form and is not tangible. Digital currency can be transferred between entities or users with the help of technology like computers, smart phones and the internet. Although it is similar to physical currencies, digital money allows border less transfer of ownership as well as instantaneous transactions.
