Age Friendly Universities

Hello! I would like to know of what knowledge people have of Age Friendly Universities (AFU)? The concept of AFU is primarily to promote the participation of older adults in all the core activities of the university, including educational and research programmes. AFU movement was initiated in Dublin, Ireland, and is now slowly coming to the United States is my understanding. I strongly believe that this is a movement that we should pay attention to, and respond to given the aging demographics and the desire for life long learning.

I am a strong supporter of not forgetting out baby doomers have a wealth of experience and seeking opportunities. What an opportuntiy to have senior entrepreneurs similar to Japan. Thos that return to Universities to study the teaching must recognise their differences in absorption of information compared to the millennial.

Jeff - thank you for your response. You mention Japan. I wonder if this is because something similar is occuring there? What is your experience with Age Friendly Universities yourself? Also you mention the diferences in Baby Boomers to that of Millenials in terms of absorbtion rate. However, I do think the two groups complement each other well in terms of very different life experiences and perceptions; and can make for an interesting contrast!
