In the UK - Not a good idea - Have you ever read Alice in Wonderland - going down the rabbit hole without support, can open up a whole new world of pain for you.

If you don't have a lawyer (a solicitor or barrister), you can take your own case or defend yourself in court or at a tribunal.
It's important to try to get proper legal help if you can. If you're on a low income, find out if you can get free or affordable legal advice.

Before taking legal action

Be realistic about whether you can get what you want if you take a case to court. If your dispute is about a misunderstanding or communication breakdown, court is usually not the best place to sort it out. It's usually better to try other options first.

Taking a case to court can be stressful. It can take a lot of time and money - for example, if you lose and you have to pay the other side's costs.

You can find out about alternatives to court action on Advice Now's website.

If you're trying to get money back

If you decide to go to court to claim money you're owed, it's known as a 'small claim'. You can find out more about making a small claim.

You can also find a guide to making a small claim on GOV.UK.

A simple answer which yet seeks Humility, please. Time is used as a Weapon here on Earth. Especially in our courts of justice. It is in the interest of a "speedy trial."

Whether you’ve never used a lawyer before or you use them all the time, finding a lawyer can be daunting. There are so many different types of lawyer and law firm out there (solicitor, barrister, partner, associate, high street, City…the list goes on!): it’s difficult to know what type of lawyer you need. And when you figure that out, where do you go to find the best lawyer for a fair price? - David 58 months ago
I agree, one must be carefull in engaging a lawyer else waste of time mony will be the result you will see, - Hassan 58 months ago

That may be helpful, but knowledge and practice complement each other. There is less risk when knowledge and practice are combined - Yolene 58 months ago
I agree with Yolene Pierre. One must avoid the risk and have a good lawyer for the case. - Ali 58 months ago

Some research helps to narrow and focus on what's needed.. Then ask friends and Networks for Referrals or recommendations. Use free consultation to further the search.. - Yolene 58 months ago

In the UK most Judges and the Legal profession are so far removed from the ordinary Day to Day way of life that they use the term ' I advise legal representation ' to protect there Licence to steal from everyday people, it has been long established that they treat the legal systems like a Private Club with the most extortionate and high rates even for the most simple cases, at County Court level you can represent yourself and it costs you very little, Divorce is one instance.
