Metformin is given to people with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise has not worked. In studies it has been shown to lower blood pressure is people with salt sensitivity.
If you mean that salt reduces blood sugar and can be used instead of Metformin, it is completely non scientific and irrational. Generally Diabetic patients are advised to reduce salt intake as concomitant hypertension is present in more than 50% of Diabetic patients. Salt is first diet modification advised to all hypertensive patients. First step is Salt restriction next step is complete stoppage of salt in diet.
Sounds very strange. There are some studies dated 1980-90 saying that salt increase glucose absorption. I see no correlation between salt and metformin. Metformin have being currently used not only as first alternatives to manage glucose levels, but also to decrease weight in some cases of obesity.
