There are a number of organisations that offer employment to ex-offenders in the UK. I'm a non-exec director at such an enterprise. Our experience is generally very good. The people are hard working and never complain.

The bigger questions is; does the crime committed effect attitudes to offenders?

Should someone that has been imprisoned for theft be allowed to handle money at their new employers?

My own question is...how about starting the reintroduction to their new life while they are in their final term in Prison? I'm sure it is more complicated than it sounds of course... Or not?

Very difficult to answer as there impact can be seen in current relationships, sexual preference and social relationships. The US experience with criminals is just unfolding and free prison labor will be deemed illegal as more governments will be found guilty of collusion with judges who recklessly put minorities and the poor behind bars.

The answer is yes. But maybe we should start earlier. The US represents ca. 4.4% of the world's population, but ca. 22% of the world's prisoners. We may assume that something is going wrong. Maybe that prisons are privately managed and due to this are good business? Biased judgments? Strict laws sending people too prison instead of trying other measures first?

It depends on the criminals that they done. I agreed that we need to give prisoner a new chance to rebuild their life. But, not prisoners deserve a second chance. I believe that rapist,drug dealer and killer should not deserve a new life in order to ensure the safety of the country.
