Does a budding entrepreneur have the required skills to form their own business? Is there capital available to support them? Often employment is the best option as it allows a worker to build some cash and experience and then consider their own business.

Employment is comparatively a secure option in terms of your financial and social security aspects. Business ( if you are not inheriting one) is comparatively more complex and risky.

Few things which are pretty obvious though -
1. In employment, you know you are going to get a paycheck every month. In Business, you may get 10 checks or zero in a month.
2. In employment - you have an option to say "Its not my job", in business - No.
3. In employment - you have limited hours, in business no such thing.

Government job vs private job is a big matter of discussion in South Asia (India, China, Sri Lanka, Nepal in particular) but not in other continents. See, the recent payout blockage by Trump administration that impacted government employees. They did not get their salary at Christmas. Also, the layoff is quite frequent in North America in private organizations compared to South Asia. So, its a matter of choice in which field you are the best and can protect your future.

If after retirement there is pension future is also good. - Er. Jangyadutta 63 months ago
Even more important post retirement - Dr. David E. 63 months ago
Precisely, the advantage of being employed is having pension from mandatory insurance or savings the government imposes on employers to pay. However, this should be taken cared of by an entrepreneur, invest in retirement plans with riders..Having a business would entai treating yorself as an employee who should also have wages as a regular employee as well as benefits, deduct that as expenses, - Ferdinand 63 months ago
In the USA pensions are collapsing in favor of 401-k plans. This puts the liability on the worker - Dr. David E. 63 months ago

As we are discussing both employment and business .then in some place they are standing together. Each has its own positive and negative points .
Business

  • Require a huge amount of investment.
  • Need to search clients for your business
  • Need proper plan and excute accordingly.

Job

  • Not required any investment and you will get salary every month.
  • No need to search for clients.
  • No plan ,only task.

In business you will be your own boss and in job you need to follow your boss.

By an employment employee has limitations in discharging duties and get salary and maintain his family out of that source he will plan for something. Whereas Business is a vast procedure where in owner can invest as per his choice manage business by himself as well as his resources may be used for success of business and after getting profit he may develop plan and perform accordingly as per his pleasure.

But several companies are not giving profit to their employees. Some also give production incentive. - Er. Jangyadutta 63 months ago
So - start your own company and give away all your own profit to employees - Dr. David E. 63 months ago
That is not possible but someone can give some percentage of profit to employee as bonus to encourage them to working hard to get more profit.Which will be more profitable for company. - Er. 63 months ago
Yes. - Er. Jangyadutta 63 months ago

We are familiar with the pros and cons of both.
Employment gives a sre income at the end of the pay cycle, however, it is limited and sometimes the jobe becomes routine. Being an entrepreneur is more stressful and risky, needs more time, strategic planning, partnerships an dother resources but with more returns.
In the earlier days, have an emploment, develop your skills, for a business. Yo can have employment and bsiness as long as there is no conflict of interest.
Once the ins and outs of the business is familiar, we can have our own business and be ready for loss and frustrations, bt think more of the benefits, so we have to work harder,

As I commentd in the previous thread, the entrepreneur should treat himself as an "employee" with the rights and privileges as mandated by law. After deducting all overhead expenses,to inclde your own wage, of course, then that is your profit - Ferdinand 63 months ago
