You pretty much mentioned all the points here Paolo. Although, I would like to mention - "Interest" as well. However, I agree that one need to be planned and identify the strengths/weakness to convert the "interest" into a a successful career.
Listening criticism is also a very important aspect.
I would start backwards and backcast.
Assume you are retiring. What would you want your spouse, family, friends and colleagues to say about your career,
Lay out the steps to achieve that and move forward from where you are today.
In my opinion, all the point listed by Paolo are indeed needed to climb the corporate ladder or have a success life. But i think the most important of all or the 1st step is to recognize your strength, skills and talent. This is because life is too short! it is better that we put in effort to train up or "perfectionize" our strength, skills and talent! This save time and we do enjoy doing what we are good at doing. Thus, creating a happy environment, mental health and a positive outlook towards career advancement. I do not mean that we should not waste our time on things that we are not good, but focus on our strength first then weakness.
Doing what You Love = Not Always Realistic.
I wanted to be a professional B-ball player as a kid. I LOVED it.
Great offense and defense.
Alas = too short.

Ask for feed back. It is important to get a different view/ opinion of others regarding our performance as we humans are quite difficult to identify our own flaws. Some time, others pick up stuff that we don't even noticed which are important for us to step up to the next level in life. A second opinion always better than none! If we would like to success, we need to hear from others, because some time we are too "full" of ourselves and hinder our own progress.
"Carrier" to "Career"
The typo is noted.
Please correct,
Many thanks.
