Amazon Alexa vs Google Assistant
Which is the best to you?
These are my points but I would like to hear from you. Alexa improved but Assistant take the advantage of the Google ownership. Using Alexa you can probably interact with more apps and devices and it has surpassed 70K skills. Assistant works with approx. 10K home devices. Assistants is available in 80 countries in 30 different languages. Alexa is better to create your routine as it is more reliable in the daily usage.

I would say Alexa is more personal in user experience then Google. However, Google Home has the advantage of Google's ownershio, as you rightly said.
Though, I am still not a big fan of Google Home since it depends from country to country. I have seen it struggling with news sources for specific locations.
I would say, Alexa is improving pretty good.
I have a slight preference toward Alexa due to a greater breadth of abilities and they company are constantly improving the device frequently compared to google assistance. The most important ability Alexa poses over Google is their smart home and home monitoring features which are user friendlier and easier to be used by elderly (as my grandparent like them more than google)!
I have 6 Alexa's spread out in my home. The only reason I chose Alexa over google when I started was the cost. the Echo dot was cheap. When my Ecobee smart thermostat broke down, the replacement model they sent me had Alexa built in, so it was pure luck but it fit perfectly in my ecosystem. I have google phones, Chromecasts and other google products, so it was not a choice of Amazon over Google. In the year after I bought the Dots, i bought the Echo Spot which was exactly the kind of alarm I had been looking for!
The functions are still gimmicky, and the accuracy is spotty, but it's still my go-to for timers, for turning on or off the TV, opening the garage door etc. I think I could have done the same with Google.
