Yes. This is acceptable in my view, in down times firms have no problem with this practice. As long as the leaving exec does not engage in acts that could have criminal or civil ramifications there should no problem.

The decision has to be left to the personal moral values of those being recruited and their experiences in the environment at the competition - Apollone 66 months ago

No. In general the cultural shock is counter productive as new hires taken from other corporations tend to try and reframe the environment in their image which causes lots of performance blips in a great number of companies. Also a factor is how different is the market being served from that of the company hiring the manager. IF not aligned the learning curve is steep, increasing the risks of failure of the individual. The worse situation is one where a hiring company brings in talent and then fails to support the position.

RECRUITMENT

'Theory X' and 'Theory Y' are theories of human motivation and management. They were created and developed by Douglas McGregor at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the 1960s. These theories describe two contrasting models of workforce motivation applied by managers in human resource management, organizational behavior, organizational communication and organizational development.

I use the McGregor method often, except for grunt HR slots.
