Not likely in the next ten years. Comparison is to drilling for oil. There is a ton of science today to identify the best places to drill for oil. After that's done some core samples can help further refine that. But once you start drilling, it's a crap shoot. In the 1960, after a good survey , the chances of hitting oil was about 45%. Today it's about 67% of the time. The cost of development is about $1 million to $9 million per well. The motivation is the potential return.

What do you expect from Asteroid Mining? Gold? or just construction material for building civilization? If it's material, there are probably more cost effective ways to get material to space. It's it's riches, the costs are going to prohibitive in the next ten years. The exploration portion or trying to determine which asteroid may have something you want will be expensive. And unlike potential oil fields, they are not stationary.

Engineers LOVE to solve problems. We would take on any problem that's a challenge and fun, the first basic question is this. The one engineers always ask: What problem are you trying to solve?

Question 2 is - Does this problem need to be solved?

Question 3 is what engineering success is built on - What's the best way to solve this problem (once questions 1 and 2 are answered.) Best = successfully solved, Cost effectively solved. Time effectively solved. Permanently solved. Profitably solved
