Intellectual property ownership

Dear colleagues,

I am just curious about ownership of intellectual property regarding any work (publication as books or articles in journals) that may result from our numerous contributions as members of this Panel.

What accrues to the contributors please? This is bearing in mind that we are to brainstorm for problem solving and leading to policy making and ultimate programme of actions.

Generally speaking, authors own their words under US copyright law.

However, when you're posting on a site such as this, whether you own your words or not depends on the terms of service.

If your user agreement states that the site owns your posts, and you accept it, then you've voluntarily given up ownership.

In the UK the writer of an eBook for instances is the sole copyright owner. However, if you work for another company who commissioned the work from you, they own the copyright. They can own just UK rights, or global rights depending on the contract signed.
