I know that Watson was touted to perhaps do just that, although i do feel if patients have chronic health issues, a primary care physician ongoing relationship is critical. However, for many other patients, particularly younger and healthier patients, an AI approach may work well supplanting the ER which has come to serve a nearly primary role as triage. This step can be avoided allowing the busy ER clinicians to focus on life or limb threatening issues.
