Hypnotherapy has come a long way in the last 200 years, but the greatest leaps and bounds in the field have come in the last ten years. However, despite the increasing pace of life, hypnotherapy is still a skill set which demands patience to learn as much as to execute.

As the world becomes ever more connected, and the stresses of life change in degree and in kind, how do you see hypnotherapy developing to adapt to this new, connected century?

Hypnotherapy provides a way to reach the automatic portion of the brain. The increasing pace of life causes human to resort to automatic rather than deliberative responses. This distinction is well-described, quite aside from hypnotherapy, in the book, Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. Hypnotherapy provides a way to introduce new thoughts, new feelings, and new behaviors into automatic responses, allowing for behavior self-modification. Fast paced living and its associated stress lead to less sleep, more propensity to over eating, smoking, drinking in excess. These occur often without deliberation and hypnosis can be an effective tool in altering the behavior.

People report listening to YouTube guided meditation and hypnotherapy videos especially before sleep. Being in this relaxed mode opens the brain to incorporate the spoken word. This can be a chance to access and offer top quality hypnotherapy and positive changes in mood and sleep.
