This remains a very hot topic in the USA. While there is a rapidly evolving knowledge base and literature stream on patient behavior along with its effect on adherence, etc., the difficulty has been in the application of that science into real-world care delivery as reimbursement or payment systems have rapidly changed in the U.S. In other countries, there are different variables that link to the same behavioral science. The translation and applicability of patient decision-making can vary by geographic location due to economic influences along with social determinants.
