THEME #2

C-Suite Design Thinking

THEME SUMMARY

Design thinking enables an organization to innovate and stay competitive. It can counteract human biases that tend to stifle creativity. Involving customers and important stakeholders in the process will make it easier to figure out what's needed for growing your business.

  • Put yourself into the shoes of your customer. Ask yourself what they struggle with and what problems they wish you could solve. This exercise can help your teams decide on what to work on next.
  • Create a culture of innovation with the Montessori method: give employees guided choice, encourage freedom within limits, and rely on networks of experienced peers to reinforce learned concepts.
  • Involve both your customers and important stakeholders. Ask for their opinions and have them agree on what the next steps should be. This will establish a broad coalition in favor of change.
  • Ideas will only ever be materialized if they succeed in making your organization grow. You might have the best idea ever, but if your organization cannot turn ideas into growth, they'll be of no use.
