Bio of SARAH “PAMELA” PAUL: As a global diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and organizational change strategist, Pamela partners with organizations to help them make DEI a competitive advantage. Pamela uses her DEI expertise developed over 20 years to help organizations in government, the international financial sector, the global non-governmental sector and in higher education develop their DEI strategy and leverage DEI for lasting impact. She is recognized for her expertise in standing up strategic DEI business initiatives in organizations, using proven organization change methods. She is a certified executive coach, coaching executives and managers on management matters in which mediation of “hot button” differences is a key consideration and coaching staff on career development. Her Ph.D. is from the University of Maryland College Park and she is a certified executive coach and a Myers Briggs Master Practitioner. From 2013 to April, 2021, she was the Senior Diversity and Inclusion Analyst for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency set up after the 2008 financial downturn that focuses on the financial well-being of consumers. In that role, she led the strategic planning to integrate diversity and inclusion considerations in all areas of the Bureau’s work. Prior to this position, she was the Chief Diversity Officer for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) an institution working to promote international financial stability and monetary cooperation, facilitate international trade and promote worldwide employment. In that role, she navigated and balanced the diversity-related interests and expectations of member countries for representation of their nationals among senior level staff and led the strategy to make inclusion a top priority for the Fund’s DEI work. From 2000 to 2010, she was the Chief Diversity Officer for AED, a global non-government agency working in the US and over 160 countries globally. Her work with AED included creating solutions to integrate DEI in the business mission and operational goals using innovative scorecards; working on policies to ensure equity and opportunity for employees globally; and designing and implementing online professional development opportunities for employees globally. She has delivered training and presentations on numerous diversity and inclusion management topics, including, strategic planning for diversity and inclusion; managing conflict in a culturally competent manner; negotiating across cultural differences; transforming the college curriculum to incorporate diversity; and managing cultural bias. Audiences for her training include faculty, students and employees in the U.S., Ghana, South Africa, Paris, Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has taught global management to MBA students at Loyola University in Maryland and the University of Phoenix online.
